Education Reform and School Improvement
No matter what aspect of life you look into, there is always room for improvement. This is most definitely true for the current school system. Some students thrive and prosper while others struggle and ultimately hate school because of these issues. Learning should be something that brings us all a sense of joy, but that can be stifled if the situation is not ideal for everyone involved. The idea behind the school is that everyone is there to learn and better themselves, but sometimes it feels that only some students are actually benefiting. We have looked into why we believe this is happening and have come up with some solutions that we think can alter things in a positive manner.
Right now, you walk into a classroom and you will find one teacher who is working with several students. Naturally, some students are going to fall behind because the teacher simply cannot allocated all of their time to every single student. Because of this, some students end up getting a poor grade and more importantly they miss our on pertinent information. When this starts to happen it is easy for the student to disconnect and distance themselves from the school work. But if a private tutor was to come in an intervene then the student would have a much better chance of retaining the information and thriving in the classroom. One-on-one tutoring is the absolute best way for any student to learn any subject, especially when they are having issues in class.
Engaging Lesson Plans
The connotation behind the word school is that it is often boring for most students. They sit in class for hours and hours listening to a teacher drone on about a subject they are not interested in. THis is because the teacher is boring. It is the teacher’s responsibility to make sure that the students are engaged with the course materials. Incorporate games and activities that will keep the students on their toes and make sure that their eyes remain open. Also, it is a fact that students retain information more when they can associate it with something that is fun and exciting. So if they can connect your lesson with a fun activity then they are going to remember it when they need to use it later on in life. Leave a lasting impression if you really want to see the school system improve. It starts in each individual classroom with each teacher.
Teachers Who Care
Students are only going to be as engaged as their teacher. When a teacher shows up to class eager to teach each and everyday, then this attitude is going to rub off on the student. This is why it is so important that we hire teachers who actually want to come to class and teach the children whatever it is that they need to be learning that particular day. The more active and involved the teacher is, the more the students are going to want to come to school and learn with the teacher. At the end of the day, teachers are the backbone of the school system. If they do not care, then neither will the children and a generation will miss our on a high class education.
